My name is Naana Dankwa,

and I am the founder of The Self Discovery Academy. I am a certified Master Coach and a certified Chartered Accountant. I am deeply passionate about the transformative power of self-discovery. It is a journey that saved me from a life of discontent and living inauthentically. Despite the outward appearance of perfection, I always felt a sense of being out of place, as if I were merely going through the motions dictated by society. Born in Ghana and raised in South Africa, I was surrounded by the medical profession with both my parents working in the field (dad a psychiatrist and mom a nurse). From a young age, I was captivated by human behavior and had a strong desire to study psychology, people had naturally gravitated toward confiding in me about their problems. However, my beloved father encouraged me to pursue a different path, and I ended up studying accounting in university.

Life took an unexpected turn during my final year of university when I witnessed my father being shot in the neck, forever altering our lives. After spending two years in the hospital, my father returned to work in a quadriplegic state, supported by my courageous mother, who acted as his hands. Meanwhile, I found myself trapped in the corporate world, feeling deeply unhappy and experiencing deteriorating health, eventually leading to the discovery of a benign tumor in my pituitary gland.

It was during this challenging period that a close friend introduced me to the concept of life coaching. Intrigued, I decided to seek the guidance of a life coach, and that decision marked the beginning of my journey back to self. Through acknowledging and accepting my truth, I found the strength to leave my corporate job and pursue a path that aligned with my true calling—life coaching.

I firmly believe that every individual possesses unique strengths and beauty, yet many remain unaware or unsure of their own inherent worth. We are all experts of our own lives, but the weight of life experiences, thoughts, and emotions often restricts us from fully embracing our true selves. Witnessing my father's unwavering bravery, strength, and resilience during his 16-year post-injury journey, until he transitioned in 2022, has inspired me to share the gifts I have received with the world.

With this deep-rooted conviction, I established The Self Discovery Academy—a safe haven for individuals seeking to embark on their own journey of self-understanding. It is a place where people can uncover their authentic selves and gain the necessary coaching and tools to live life on their own terms. The journey of self-growth and self-love is an ongoing process, one that I am honored to accompany others on.
